DAY 1We left Goomeri about 9am on Monday morning and after about 40km towards Kingaroy we turned west on the Wondai-Chinchilla Road. The GPS thingy on the phone was working well, until it told us to turn left in the middle of nowhere. Turn where? This road is as straight as a plumbline for as far as the eye can see. And that happened quite a bit over the next 700k. Every now and then the GPS could not locate us, showing roads and intersections where there were none.

Here we are back in Brisbane for a week. We have some business to attend to, then will be off for another month. Hopefully over the next few days I can get the pics and video uploaded, and bring the blog up to date with our adventures in Western New South Wales.
It's strange to be back in the city after so long in the quiet country. I miss the quiet already. Ahh, well ......

We had another little trip today to the village of Tingoora, about 25 mins to the sw of Goomeri. On the way through Wondai we noticed the signs for the Wondai Autumn Flower Festival, and the Wondai Orchard Show. They are on this coming weekend, so we made a not to go over and see what it is all about.
There are some nice gardens in Wondai, and autumn here is much cooler than down on the coastal plain. So we are interested to see what types of flowers will feature. Will get lots of pics.

It is possible to stream YouTube video on this software but I need to do a little study and programming first. In the meantime I will simply link to my YouTube channel. This link is a video (raw footage rough cut) of the Kilkivan Great Horse Ride taken a couple of weeks ago. It is hand held so very shakey. I must get my tripod out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDzs5owYO4E&feature=g-upl&context=G2ebd27...

Nowhere do we see Nature in all it's finest than in pristine country areas. Although it is not quite pristine here there is still an abundance of wild-life in its natural habitat. It is not uncommon to see magpies, butcherbirds and kookaburras fighting over tasty mortals on newly mowed lawns. Apostle birds and galahs seem to tolerate each other more as they share the seeds that have dropped from trees and shrubs.

Friday was shopping day so we took a quick trip to Kingaroy, leaving Goomeri and travelling west and south on the Bunya Highway.

Late in the afternoons

We get visitors of the feathered variety. There are kookaburras, rosellas, galahs, magpies, butcherbirds, peewees, and the occasional white cockatoo.
The other night I saw a kookaburra, magpie and butcherbird skirmishing around a patch of ground, obviously to get a feed. The Magpie won out. Last night 2 pale-headed rosellas came to visit, but left before I could get a snap. However, the kookaburra and galahs hung around a while.

After having had permanent ADSL connection to the internet, this limited connection is a real bummer. At home at night I am working from a phone and the signal strength is not good. During the day I have to use the broadband from the shop. It kicks me off everytime they use the phone, fax or EFTPOS. Then if the office is being used for meetings .... no internet for me ..... aaarrtrgghhh!
Oh well, I guess I just have to get used to it as there will be times when I have no internet access at all.

We finally left Brisbane after a ten day visit sorting out our storage unit, baby-sitting grandies, and house-sitting for D1.
